THE ORIGIN STORY

From a Lifelong Dream to Full-Time Mountain Guiding

Around 2002, our founder, Mr. Chatar Singh Rawat (affectionately known as Shambhu), established Yeti Adventure in Uttarkashi. What began as a personal passion soon grew into a mission to share the pristine beauty of our mountains with travelers from around the world.

Born and raised in the high meadows of Dayara, Shambhu spent his early years exploring the forests, rivers, and alpine trails of Garhwal. The same trails that shaped his childhood later inspired him to build Yeti Adventure, a platform to create meaningful journeys while supporting local communities.

Today, he continues to lead with the same spirit: simple living, deep respect for nature, and a commitment to responsible tourism.

“The mountains have always been my home. Yeti Adventure is my way of giving back by sharing their beauty and protecting it for generations to come.” — Yeti Adventure.

The artwork reads: Local roots. Global friendships. A higher purpose. Born in the mountains, guiding for a better tomorrow.

THE YETI CODE

Our Core Mountain Pillars

Safety Without Compromise

Leaders certified by the NIM in Uttarkashi. Every expedition carries comprehensive medical support, pulse oximeters, and first-aid kits, with mandatory twice-daily vitals tracking.

Small-Batch Trekking

We believe mountains are experienced through quiet communion, not crowded mass tourism. We strictly maintain a 1:8 leader-to-trekker ratio for personalized care and responsible group movement.

Local Community Ethics

100% of our guides, cooks, and support crew are locals of Uttarkashi and neighboring Garhwal villages. We practice Leave No Trace trail ethics and provide fair mountain wages.

MORE THAN TREKS

People, Places and a Shared Purpose

Every journey with us supports local communities, preserves mountain culture, and helps protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

OUR PEOPLE & CULTURE

Rooted in the Himalayas. Led by Local People.

Our team is the heart of Yeti Adventure. From seasoned expedition guides and high-altitude cooks to support crew and village homestay hosts, we are proud to be a locally owned and run mountain outfit. Together, we preserve Himalayan trail heritage while creating stable, dignified livelihoods across Garhwal communities.
