The trekking journey begins with a drive via Srinagar to Sonmarg, offering panoramic views of valleys and white-capped summits. From Sonmarg, the trail winds through pine forests, crosses the Nichnai River, and passes through vibrant meadows, with the first campsite at Nichnai.
The adventure continues with a climb through maple and birch forests, unveiling rolling meadows and the thunderous Nichnai River, before reaching the panoramic Nichnai Pass at 11,500 ft. Trekkers then traverse expansive alpine meadows to the pristine Vishansar Lake, a breathtaking crystal-clear blue expanse that changes hues throughout the day.
The route continues past Kishansar Lake and ascends steeply to Gadsar Pass, the trek’s highest point at 13,715 ft, offering sweeping views of the Kashmir Valley before descending to the untouched Gadsar Lake. The journey then leads through rocky ridges and stream crossings to Satsar, the ‘Land of Seven Lakes,’ where serene alpine beauty dominates the landscape.
From there, the trail winds through rugged mountain paths to the twin lakes of Gangabal and Nundkol, nestled at the base of the towering Mount Harmukh. Finally, a descent through dense pine forests brings trekkers to the historic village of Naranag, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking experience before returning to Srinagar.

I had a wonderful time on the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek with Yeti Adventure. The mountains, lakes, and green valleys were so beautiful! The guides were very kind and helpful. The food was tasty, and the tents were comfortable. It was the best trek of my life!
